If like me you have really greasy hair and using any form of product in the roots just makes the situation ten times worse, then you are going to want to invest in this product. Im talking about the one and only Babyliss Root Booster Hair Crimper. Its been around a while but I have just discovered it, and can I just say my life has changed (ok bit dramatic). But seriously this product really is a must have if you want long lasting volume, even if you don't have greasy hair. I just personally think for anyone with greasy hair who have that constant battle in the drugstore of being sucked in by the read up of a product (its lightweight and won't weigh your hair down.... yeah right) and then applying it and all your dreams being shattered when you run your fingers through your hair and its a sticky, greasy mess.
Before and After using the Babyliss Root Booster
It retails for around £20 and upwards depending where you buy it from (I have seen it as cheap as £15!). Considering you can buy top volumising mousses for the same prices and upwards I think this is a very good investment. Yes its a bit more time consuming than throwing on some mousse but I am happy to sacrifice an extra ten minutes for a good hair day everyday. Check out my video on YouTube if you want to see my full hair routine using minimum products to achieve salon worthy volumised hair, including how I use the Babyliss Root Booster.
If you haven't heard about BioDerma's Micellar cleansing water then you have been hiding under a rock most of your life. The question is what really is Micellar water? This is a question I have frequently wondered to myself and with the drugstore jumping on the micellar band waggon the other question is which one is the best, most affordable a.k.a, a dupe for the rather expensive BioDerma version? In answer to the first question,
micellar waters use tiny micelle particles to draw make-up (including
waterproof mascara), sebum and impurities from the skin. It works almost as a
magnet, lifting the particles as opposed to scrubbing. It is
basically a three in one product and it means you do not need to rinse. The
concept started in Paris, whereby the inhabitants were conscious of
the notoriously hard water, and the effect this was having on there
skin.
So the question is which is the best drugstore dupe? For me its the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It truly dominates the drugstore make up removing isle. For £4.99 (compared to BioDerma's £14.99) a bottle which might I add has so far lasted me two months (only using half) and in which I use daily, this product is a must have in any make up fanatics kit. Yes putting make up on is fun but taking if off is a pain in the back side but this does the job quickly and with no effort at all. I no longer use face wipes, or eye make up remover just this magical thing in a bottle and a cotton pad.
The only downside...and I am being picky here is the size of the bottle, a smaller travel friendly one would be useful as it rather bulky to take away. While I could put it in a reusable travel bottle, the top does not come off. I suppose I could drip it into the bottle but who has time for that? Anyway in summary if you are looking for that one product that does everything and does it quickly, while still being affordable check out Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Lolly's Life xx
I have always been a great fan of Blake Lively since Gossip Girl (guilty pleasure). When I saw the pictures of her at the Cannes Film Festival with that red Gucci dress, messy braid and sultry make up I felt inspired to recreate her look using drugstore make up (purse friendly!).
Check out my YouTube video of my recreation of her look. Its super simple and it looks great on everyone. I couldn't quite afford the Gucci gown however (a girl can dream).

I am not really a frequent visitor to the party scene, but I ventured out my onesie and decided I would throw on the dancing shoes and go out for some saturday night antics with my chums.
It was an all girls night out and what fun it was (minus the hangover). Being a beauty fanatic it felt fabulous to get dressed and made up which I don't do enough of. I have even ventured into the land of YouTube and filmed a get ready with me video to show you my makeup, hair and outfit. I had great fun filming the video and even more fun editing it. I opted for some wide leg high waisted trousers from Dorothy Perkins. The trousers are extremely flattering especially if you're conscious of your legs like me, as they fall from the waist without clinging, and as a bonus factor they are so comfy (some crazy dance moves were being pulled off that night…). I even chose a rather daring canary yellow crop top to go with! I felt fabulous! The outfit wasn't complete without my comfy Clarks black chunky heel sling backs (yes Clarks I am a granny). Lets just say my time of wearing ridicously uncomfortantble heels for vanity reasons is well and truly over! Anyway, who said comfy cant be stylish?
As the top was so bright I opted for low key make up and crazy wavy hair! Too see the process from jogger pants, and messy bun to chic and ready to hit the town then hop over to YouTube and check out my video. Don't forget to hit subscribe!
Not the most flattering photo! Lets just say I was running late...
Ahem… ignore the untidy room! Not knowing what to wear happened! Come on girls we have all been there ;)
